civil war Proposed Gettysburg Casino Draws Supporters, Critics

(Gettysburg, PA)  —  A public hearing on a proposed casino in Gettysburg drew both supporters and critics earlier this week.  The Tuesday night meeting gave an overview of the Mason Dixon Resort and Casino, which would go up close to the historic Civil War battlefield.

Residents in support of the plan said they were excited about the job opportunities — an estimated 475 on site and 900 total for the community.

Opponents argued that not only will the casino “desecrate” the historic battlefield, it will take away from employment in downtown Gettysburg.

Guess their unemployment must be very low if they are concerned about it taking employment from downtown. Hope they’re thankful.
