You may not think of Las Vegas as the place to go for ice skating, however the valley has several options for you to enjoy the cold even when it’s warm outside. If you are a beginner, a professional or just your weekend skater, there are options for you in the Las Vegas valley.

The Las Vegas Ice Center is on the city’s west side and has several ice rinks offering guests many options for their skating needs. The facility offers public skate, hockey leagues, training and private parties. You can sign up for an eight-week “Learn to Skate” program that is great for children and adults. Its location is easy to get to off the 215 Beltway at the Flamingo Road exit. Coming in early 2013, Las Vegas Ice Center will be hosting the President’s Day Tournament on February 15-18, 2013. The center is now accepting entries for the tournament through December 31, 2012. Full rules and entry requirements can be found on the website. The public skate pricing at Las Vegas Ice Center is affordable and the facility offers offer two- or three-hour sessions. Public skate times vary, so it is best to call ahead or visit the Ice Center’s website for full schedule listings. Las Vegas Ice center offers guests a $2 discount if you have your own skates.

SoBe Ice Arena is on the city’s north side and is also a good bet for families and adults looking for public skating opportunities. This facility is easy to get to via US Route 95 or Interstate 15 both off the West Lake Mead Boulevard exits. The arena offers a skate school where you can learn the basics or continue your career in the skating arts. Also available are youth and adult hockey leagues, as well as private parties. The wonderful thing about planning a party at SoBe Ice Arena is that each event can be totally customizable. You can select from available private rooms, pizza, cakes and karaoke, even including the option to have a DJ at your party. If you are looking solely for public skate, the times vary, so it is best to call ahead or visit the SoBe Center’s website for full schedule listings.

If you are looking for a roller skating rink instead of ice skating, the valley has several roller skating rinks as well. Crystal Palace has two locations and is open seven days a week for your enjoyment. Crystal palace offers fun and exciting birthday party packages for all ages that include a special reserved party area. The packages are customizable and can include food, dessert, soft drinks and more. Full package details can be found on the website with available dates at either of the locations. The Rancho Drive location also offers hockey leagues, while the Boulder Highway location offers skate classes for beginners to pros.
