LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police are asking for the public’s help in the case of a woman who was killed, wrapped in plastic and dumped in a desert area not far from Lake Mead and a gypsum mine.
Authorities have identified the victim as 41-year-old Las Vegas resident Julia Garcia, who’s also known as Julia Lopez-Maravilla. Detectives say she was last seen at her home in the northeast part of the Las Vegas valley on Nov. 5.
Crews from the private Red Rock Search and Rescue group found her body Nov. 15 near Pabco Road and State Route 147.
Detectives say it appears the Garcia was killed, then wrapped in plastic and discarded at a secondary crime scene.
They’re asking for information about her whereabouts between Nov. 5 and Nov. 15.
