(Las Vegas, NV) AP — Nevada still has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the country, and a local group is hoping to turn that statistic around.

The Southern Nevada Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition held a forum yesterday at North Las Vegas City Hall.

More than 50 people discussed ways to prevent teen births and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases among young people. The non-profit National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy says teen childbearing cost Nevada taxpayers at least 68-million dollars in 2010.
