Las Vegas CBS KXNT – The Sands Convention Center is the center of the gaming world this week, as 25,000 gaming executives arrive for the Global Gaming Expo.

A glance at the lineup of speakers suggests gaming is talking about the same things they discuss in the conference rooms of many businesses — the cloud, the crowd, big data, and mobile devices. (They’re calling it iGaming).

Some conference sessions will focus on legal and regulatory implications of the online shift. As the states move one by one to legalize online gambling, the industry is looking to Washington to ensure a stable transition, Judy Patterson of the American Gaming Association told KXNT.

There’s also a social media bootcamp. Ryan Leeds, a strategist from a gaming advertising agency called Mastermind is one of the experts. Asked to point out a Las Vegas operation that does a good job in social media, Leeds offered praise to the Palms, for using all platforms in a consistently engaging way.

The Expo draws attendees from 80 countries around the world, looking for information that goes beyond the casino floor. The trade show features products for every aspect of the business, including food and beverage, entertainment, and security and surveillance.
