Las Vegas CBS KXNT- Former prisoners of war and their families gathered at Freedom Park on Nellis Air Force Base Friday, in rememberance of National POW/MIA Day.

Colonel Pete Ford offered thanks to the guests from current military personnel.

“You former prisoners of war, our current missing-in-action, and the families of our missing in action, you sound freedom’s note,” Ford said in a brief speech he described as “warriors expressing gratitude to warriors.”

“Freedom’s scale is balanced by the rights on one side, and the responsibilities on the other,” he said. “And the rights we’re provided are only established because another person is willing to pay the responsiblity to have that.”

After a wreath dedication, the guests were escorted to a reception on the base.
