Las Vegas CBS KXNT – Thousands of Clark County teachers will have a chance to vote Wednesday on their contract for the current school year.
The Clark County Education Association will present a proposed bargaining agreement to members at a meeting where the majority of those in attendance will either approve or reject it. If the proposal gets a thumbs-up, it will go to the school district’s board for a vote. If the board approves the contract, it will be put in place for the 2013-14 academic year.
Collective bargaining between the school district and its teachers has been quicker this year, after contentious rounds where negotiations continued long into the two previous school years. The union’s Executive Director, John Vellardita called the conversations “very productive.”
Vellardita won’t project the outcome of the vote, but says the union members will “make the right decision.”
