PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) — Jason Dufner’s course record 7-under 63 in Round 2 had him in front heading into today’s third round of the PGA Championship. But the historic round wasn’t enough to separate him from some accomplished contenders.
Dufner is only two shots in front of Masters champ Adam Scott, former U.S. Open winner Jim Furyk (FYOOR’-ihk) and Matt Kuchar (KOO’-chur), who’s won twice on tour this year.
Another shot back is U.S. Open champ Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson, who’s been a runner-up in his last two tournaments, the British Open and Bridgestone Invitational.
The group just four back includes former U.S. Open champ Webb Simpson and 2010 PGA Championship winner Martin Kaymer (KY’-mur).
Dufner is in search of his first major championship. He was runner-up in the 2011 PGA Championship, losing in a playoff to Keegan Bradley.
