(LAS VEGAS CBS KXNT)  It took a major recession to get people interested, but taxpayers have finally begun to ask how much their public employees are costing, says former Clark County Manager Thom Reilly.

Reilly held the position from 2001-2006, and had a good close look during those boom years at public employee compensation and collective bagaining.

Reilly has written a book in plain, simple English, he says, to help people understand how the big promises we’ve made to public employees are slurping up the money for government services like filling potholes.  Harder still to grasp is the concept of deferred cost, or obligations that come due in the future, and their impact on future generations.

Part of the fix is more public discussion, he says.  Reilly will be signing his book, Time to Rethink Public Employee Pay, at the West Sahara Library on Saturday, May 18 from 3 until 5 p.m.

This is the republican battle cry that we cut from the working guy to make the rich richer. I don’t see any republicans stepping up to the plate to pay the same amount in taxes as the rest of us. We are in this mess starting with Regan and his trickle down economics. Republicans stand in front of us and boldly lie that Obama is causing the problem and they fillibuster every bill that would help us at all and then blame the Democrats. All of those polls that the republicans are so happy to tell us that they are ahead and tell us how great they are we will see how it works out for you in November. Two unfunded wars on the credit card then borrowed the money from China. You can take away our soul but you can’t take away our vote. That’s not really true either W did it twice. Ok I’m done with my rant for the 99% percenters

I would love to drop you a email. Tell me how to do it as I’m not posting it on this web page. Also the republicans say that the taxes that they would pay at the same rate as the rest of us would not be that much money, then why are they fighting so hard against it? They also claim they are the job creators which is another lie. The consumers are the job creators by buying the products which creates hiring.
