(Las Vegas, NV)  — Nevada Republicans have moved up the state’s presidential caucus to January 14.  The change was made to protect the Silver State’s status as one of the earliest contests in the race for the White House in 2012.  It follows Florida’s decision last week to hold its presidential primary on January 31st.  State GOP Chairwoman Amy Tarkanian says moving the caucus from its original February 18th date allows Nevada to hold the first vote in the West, following Iowa and New Hampshire.
