Alaska lawmakers are weighing whether to spend millions to create an Alaska tourist attraction on the Las Vegas strip.
Poker player and Anchorage businessman Perry Green says the “Alaska Adventure Center” would promote the state to millions of tourist who visit the Nevada destination. Project developer Bob Coe says the facility needs to be big and loud and include live shows, restaurants and shops, though no gambling.
The Anchorage Daily News reported Tuesday that Green got a warm reception when he presented the plan to a state House committee last week.
Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan and others back the idea, and the project’s board of directors including prominent business people.
