Children’s Day, or “El Dia de los Ninos” as it’s known in Mexico, is a worldwide celebration of the child and family. Schoolteachers may organize the day for their students, planning games, music and stories and allowing children to bring their favorite food to share. On this day, children are honored and parents may even give them gifts. Here in Las Vegas, with our large Hispanic influence, El Dia de los Ninos is a major celebration. Libraries organize events to combine reading, family history and music while you can find other events going on as well. This truly is a joyous celebration of children, family and heritage.
