When it comes to antiques and collectibles, Las Vegas is rich in quantity and quality. Although many stores have dropped off in recent years, you owe it to yourself to go to the heart of what was “antique row” on Third Street and Western Avenue (both off of East Charleston Boulevard, just seconds east of the US Highway 15). Due to affordable space and availability, Las Vegas has the fortunate luck of having a few behemoth antique and collectible warehouse and retail centers. Considering all the ups and downs with our economy, it’s great to know there is one place that is here to stay. Not Just Antiques Mart has received multiple “Best Of” accolades, most recently AOL’s City’s “Best 2010 for Las Vegas.” It has daily estate auctions, a big presence on e-Bay, 12,000 square feet of space, collectibles dating back to the 17th century and a Tea Room for party rental. You are sure to find that perfect piece, or sell your vintage possessions through consignment. Eclectic, elegant and quirky items are always on display for you to peruse. Hours: Monday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Closed Sunday.

Not sure what to get that special someone? Antiquities is not only a very special antique and collectible store, it has literally hundreds of signed, registered, certified and documented memorabilia to choose from. Antiquities was handpicked by the owners of The Forum Shops (one of America’s richest malls). When was the last time you saw a life-size statue of Batman or a vintage tuck-and-roll barber chair in mint condition? Trying to find that “Raiders of The Lost Ark” movie poster (signed by Harrison Ford), or “The Spy Who Shagged Me” photos (signed by Mike Myers)? Well, there is plenty of that caliber here. How about Abraham Lincoln or Al Capone? Antiquities has it. Service is at the peak of professionalism here. Hours: Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to midnight.

Antique Mall of America has been a longstanding favorite of many Las Vegas for years. Customers are known to spend hours meandering past one of the largest, endless ensembles of small boutiques ever under one roof. It has more than 50,000 square feet of collectibles, fine furniture pieces, art, jewelry and a jumbo selection of Americana, so you’re destined to find the perfect accompaniment to your existing decor. Antique Mall of America also accepts consignment pieces or rents large cubicles for those with larger quantities of goods to sell. Stock changes frequently so there is always something interesting to see here and much fun. Hours: open daily, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Past & Present is a nice mixture of just that, past and present — which means it does require some sifting. However, it’s an effective way of seeing how a special antique might fit in with your more modern collection or vice-versa. With a wide selection of bric-a-brac, collectibles, antiques and modern furnishings, it is unlikely you won’t find what you’re on a mission for. Not sure?
