Even for those who don’t drink alcohol, having a selection of fine liquor for the occasional toast, after-dinner aperitif or house gift is considered by many a household staple item. Should you be bold enough to ask, most liquor store operators are not only more than glad to share their expertise on the subject, they can often match your libation to that hard-to-get recipient or to your specific occasion. Many exquisite liquors come in fancy, gift-giving boxes already. Say, for instance, you only allow yourself one martini a week. They can help you find the finest, silkiest, least toxic and most aged liquor, allowing you to feel fully indulgent about that cocktail. Questions about the aging of tequila? The preferred years of particular wines and champagnes? The smoothness of a particular Vodka? Maybe you want a magnum for a party or a unique collectible gift. Sure, you can run in for a bottle of gin and be on your way, but just know a liquor store can be so much more. Here are some of the best in Las Vegas.

Hands-down, Lee’s has the biggest and best selection of fine liquor, spirits and gifts in the Las Vegas Valley. A true local chain with more than 14 locations and dozens of accolades, including Five Star Retailer of the Year, Lee’s Discount Liquor prides itself on being the upscale, organized mini department store for the more discerning shopper. There really isn’t anything you can’t get via Lee’s, and special items and quantity orders can be fulfilled through any location. Plus, it always has a promotion to take advantage of in the store. If you are flying in, check out Lee’s Runway Liquors, one of the privileged few to have a licensed airport liquor store in America. Atomic Liquor Store And Cocktails

917 Fremont Street
Las Vegas, Nevada 89101
(702) 384-7371

Not your average “liquor store,” Atomic Liquors is a national and locals’ favorite when you want to experience a piece of Las Vegas history. Many make it an annual event as a kickstart to their evening — even if it is just one cocktail. Here, due to its revised zoning and tavern license, customers buy their booze first, and then either take it home or sit down and drink at the bar. In addition, Atomic Liquors is the only place to buy liquor downtown after dark, that’s not located within a casino. Atomic opened in 1952 and is considered the oldest licensed bar in Las Vegas. You have to be buzzed in Atomic’s bartender. Rough neighborhood on the mend; never been updated, yet fun and funny. Women and small men should go escorted. They might answer the phone when they feel like it, but it is worth the trip. Hours: daily, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Las Vegas Liquor Outlet

1725 East Warm Springs Road
Las Vegas, NV 89119
(702) 897-9463
www.lvliquoroutlet.com

Las Vegas Liquor Outlet is another local favorite with multiple Las Vegas locations. If you want to keep up on its daily specials, visit the Web site for bigger-than-day promotions. With its Members Club, you are sure to save big bucks on 12-packs of beer, Crown Royal, Crystal champagne and kegs for that next backyard blowout. The store specializes in stocking what others don’t in Las Vegas. Hours: daily, 8 a.m. to midnight.

Super Liquor 2

4080 Paradise Road, No. 4
Las Vegas, NV 89169
(702) 734-2600

A good place for off-Strip liquor, Super Liquor 2 is the store’s second location, with less expensive prices and a wider selection, yet still convenient to the Vegas Strip — at Flamingo and Paradise. If you are staying near Mandalay Bay (South Strip), Super Liquor also has a location at Four Seasons Way and Las Vegas Boulevard. You’ll find everything you need without the hassle of an undesirable neighborhood. New hours: daily, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
