Nevada primary election 2014
Nearly 1.3 million Nevadans are registered as active voters.
Nevada’s 2012 general election becomes official when the state Supreme Court convenes Tuesday to certify the results. More than 1 million Nevadans cast ballots in the Nov. 6 election, for a record voter turnout of nearly 81 percent.
The closely-watched, expensive and often acrimonious 4th District Congressional primary race among Republicans lived up to its billing as a nail-biter for much of election night before Danny Tarkanian opened up a lead of a thousand votes over rival Barbara Ceveske and declared victory.
Not too many Nevadans are taking advantage of early voting. The secretary of state’s office says less than 6% of the state’s one-million-plus voters cast early ballots last week.
