UNLV Football learned which conference teams it will be playing and where it will face them this fall as the Mountain West released its final scheduling rotation.
The Mountain West announced Tuesday it will split into two divisions for football only and create a conference championship game at the site of the highest-ranked team in the Bowl Championship Series standings. This year, the game will be played Dec. 7.
nin’ Rebel freshman forward Anthony Bennett has been named to The John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 list, which was announced Thursday by The Los Angeles Athletic Club on ESPNU.
Boise State will reportedly remain in the Mountain West Conference. According to sources the Broncos will not join the Big East Conference in 2013.
Boise State, San Diego State and BYU are in talks with Mountain West membership about the possibility of returning to the conference.
The Rebels came into Saturday’s game 1-8 on the season, losing their last five games, in desperate need of a win and they pulled it off. UNLV scored the first 21 points of the game and held on to beat New Mexico 35-7.
The Runnin’ Rebels are ranked No. 18 in the Associated Press’ preseason Top 25, which was released on Friday. Last week, the coaches’ preseason poll was announced and has the Runnin’ Rebels ranked No. 19.
The Runnin’ Rebels were picked to finish second in the Mountain West in 2012-13 as the league released its preseason media poll and all-conference team on Monday.
The Runnin’ Rebels basketball team is ranked No. 19 in the Preseason USA Today Coaches’ Poll, which was released on Wednesday.
UNLV junior linebacker Tani Maka is being honored as the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week.
