Man Critically Hurt in Vegas Condominium Fire

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A fire official says a resident was hospitalized in critical condition after a condominium fire in Las Vegas.

Deputy Clark County Fire Chief Jon Klassen said Friday that neighbors summoned firefighters who arrived a little before 11 p.m. Thursday to find flames through the roof of the condo on Blackstone Street. That’s near Twain Avenue and Pecos Road.

Klassen says the man who was found in the unit was the only person inside.

Animal control officers were called to restrain several large dogs belonging to neighbors in the area.

Fire investigators traced the cause of the fire to an electrical malfunction in a bathroom fan.

Klassen says the estimated loss was about $300,000.
