LAS VEGAS (AP) — Firefighters say a cause of a blaze at an apartment building on Las Vegas’ east side is under investigation.

Crews responded about 10 a.m. Sunday after fire dispatchers received several calls that a unit on the top floor of an apartment building on North 28th Street was on fire.

When firefighters arrived, heavy flames and smoke were coming out the window of a third-story apartment.

Neighbors told firefighters they believed the only occupant of the apartment wasn’t home and his car was not in the parking lot.

Firefighters had to force entry into the apartment and quickly extinguished the blaze in a bedroom.

Damage is estimated at $20,000.

Authorities say there are no reported injuries.
