LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities in Las Vegas have identified a 25-year-old man who was shot and killed in what police called an apparently random shooting by a man who intervened in an argument the victim was having with his ex-girlfriend.
The Clark County coroner said Thursday that Ethan Hogan died of a gunshot to the abdomen in the late Tuesday shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex southwest of the Las Vegas Strip.
Police say Hogan’s ex-girlfriend wasn’t injured, and the couple’s 5-year-old son was unharmed in a car nearby.
The woman told investigators she didn’t know the assailant.
Police say they’re looking for the man who pulled a small assault-style rifle from a dark-colored two-door car, possibly a Dodge Charger or Challenger, in which he arrived and fled the scene.
