LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – A 73-year-old man died early Tuesday after investigators said he ran across a busy Las Vegas street into the path of an oncoming car, according to authorities.
The collision near the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Maryland Parkway around 5 a.m. Tuesday closed the roadway for much of the morning.
Witness told investigators the victim was running southbound across Tropicana west of the intersection. A 2006 Toyota Colla was traveling eastbound on Tropicana on a green light when the man ran in front of the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries.
The name of the victim was not immediately released pending family notification.
The driver of the Toyota remained on the scene and cooperated with police.
The roadway remained closed for about five hours before reopening around 10 a.m.
