LAS VEGAS (KNXT) – Murder charges have been added against the mother of a 7-year-old Las Vegas boy allegedly tied up and fatally abused by the woman’s live-in boyfriend last month, according to authorities.
Following an investigation by Las Vegas Metro Police Abuse and Neglect Section detectives, Roshaun Malone was arrested and charged with murder in the death of her son Richard Findley Jr. on October 30.
Clark County firefighters responding to an emergency call at the family’s home at the Siegel Suites on the 4800 block of Boulder Highway and called Las Vegas Metro Police officers after concluding Richard showed obvious signs of severe trauma and likely abuse, including ligature marks, a LVMPD statement reported.
The boy was taken to Sunrise Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.
Investigators with the Homicide and Abuse and Neglect section determined the boy was abused by Kenneth Robinson, who lived with the boy, Malone and four other children. Robinson, 31, was not the child’s father.
According to the arrest report, Robinson admitted to investigators that he tied Richard’s arms behind his back that morning and left him like that until the afternoon. The report stated Robinson initially denied beating the child, but eventually confessed to abusing the boy after Richard’s death to keep Malone from losing her other four children.
Robinson was charged earlier this week with one count of murder.
