LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Nevada Highway Patrol is due to air preliminary findings of the fatal shooting by a trooper of a carjacking suspect after a chase from Las Vegas to Henderson.
A Tuesday media briefing is scheduled about the slaying last Wednesday of 28-year-old Javier Munoz, of Glendale, Arizona.
Authorities have said Munoz was shot after crashing a car stolen from a woman at a convenience store and trying to carjack another vehicle from a man at a Cadillac dealership.
Officials haven’t said if Munoz had a weapon.
The trooper who shot Munoz is identified as David Dudley, a17-year highway patrol veteran.
Officials say a woman was treated for minor injuries after trying to stop Munoz from stealing her black Scion near downtown Las Vegas.
Troopers chased the Scion after seeing it being driven erratically on U.S. 95.
