LAS VEGAS (KXNT) — Las Vegas police are investigating the death of a woman believed shot and killed by her boyfriend as she sat in a car late Saturday, according to authorities.
Officers arrived in the area of Salernes Street and Shinnecock Hills Avenue just after 6:15 p.m. Saturday, a LVMPD statement reported.
Officers found the victim’s boyfriend, 27-year-old Ivan Cotton, standing outside the car with the driver’s side door open. Inside, the victim was sitting in the driver’s seat suffering from gunshot wounds.
She was taken to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Her identity was not immediately released pending family notification.
Las Vegas homicide detectives determined Cotton and the victim had been in a relationship for about a year before the shooting. Investigators did not disclose what may have led to the shooting.
Cotton was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of murder.
