LAS VEGAS (AP) — An ex-convict pleaded not guilty to charges that could get him the death penalty in a car-to-car shooting that authorities say killed two California women and critically wounded a man last February near the Las Vegas Strip.

Omar Jamal Talley’s trial was set for November 2017 after a hearing Tuesday at which Clark County District Court Judge Jennifer Togliatti was told that defense attorney William Skupa will continue to represent him.

Skupa didn’t immediately respond to messages.

Talley faces murder, attempted murder and felony weapon charges in the Feb. 19 shooting that police and prosecutors say followed argument in a parking structure at the Miracle Mile Shops at the Planet Hollywood.

Talley later told police that he was drunk and high on marijuana and didn’t recall leaving the parking garage.
