LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – A pedestrian suffered fatal injuries after he allegedly tried to cross a busy Las Vegas street Tuesday evening and was hit by a car.
The accident happened on South Jones Boulevard north of West Edgewood Circle just after 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Las Vegas Metro Police statement.
Witnesses said the pedestrian was crossing South Jones outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a Honda CRV traveling north in the center two-way turn lane. The pedestrian, described only as a 30-year-old man, was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The man’s identity was not immediately released pending family notification.
The driver of the Honda, Gume Montano, 64, of Las Vegas, was not hurt in the crash, although a female passenger suffered minor injuries.
The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Detail.
