LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – A Las Vegas man was arrested and faces child abuse charges after a one-year-old boy suffered severe burns that will require surgery, according to police.
Officers arrived at the home on the 4600 block of Vegas Drive just before 8 p.m. last Friday, a Las Vegas Metro Police statement reported.
The child sustained serious burns to his hand and wrist. The boy was taken to University Medical Center, where doctors said his injuries required surgery.
Investigators with the LVMPD Abuse Neglect Detail determined Amonte Taylor was watching the child while the boy’s mother was out and the injuries were not accidental. It was not immediately made public the circumstances that led to the child’s injuries.
Taylor, 23, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of child abuse.
