LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – One man died and businesses around a Las Vegas Starbucks were briefly evacuated after an argument led to a shooting inside the coffee shop, according to authorities.
The shooting happened at the Starbucks near West Warm Springs Road and South Rainbow Boulevard around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Las Vegas Metro Police Lt. Dan McGrath said.
McGrath said two men in Starbucks got into an argument when one man pulled out a gun and opened fire.
“The suspect shot the victim and then proceeded to come outside and mixed in with some of the people who were evacuating,” McGrath said. That suspect was quickly taken into custody.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to Spring Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
McGrath said a comment was made about possible explosives inside the suspect’s backpack or inside his truck parked outside, prompting an evacuation of the immediate area and surrounding businesses while bomb experts searched the suspect’s belongings.
“Trying to determine who was involved and who was not involved took some time,” McGrath said.
Authorities concluded no explosives were on scene and reopened the area around 2 p.m.
