Vegas Police Looking for Van, Driver in Hit-Run Moped Crash

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police are looking for a motorist who was behind the wheel of a Honda van that struck and badly injured a 56-year-old moped rider at a crossroads near Rancho High School near downtown Las Vegas.

The rider, identified as Philip Porter of Las Vegas, was thrown from the 2012 Tao Tao moped in the crash a little after 10 a.m. Sunday on Searles Avenue near 21st Street.

Porter is being treated at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Police say the van was on 21st Street and didn’t stop at a stop sign at Searles Avenue.

It’s described as a metallic blue Honda Odyssey, is believed to have damage on the left side including a broken passenger window.
