LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a motorcycle officer is hospitalized but is expected to recover, and a driver is jailed on suspicion of driving under the influence after a pre-dawn crash several miles west of the Las Vegas Strip.
Sgt. Richard Strader says the officer was riding on the motorcycle when it was struck from behind by a faster-moving car a little after 4 a.m. Friday on Tropicana Avenue near Durango Drive.
Strader says the officer has neck, back and leg injuries but was conscious and speaking with medics when he was taken to University Medical Center. His injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening.
The driver of the car wasn’t hurt, and remained at the scene where he was arrested.
The names of the officer and the driver weren’t immediately made public.
