LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – Investigators are trying to determine what led to a shooting that left two fatally wounded in a Las Vegas apartment complex parking lot Tuesday evening.

Officers responding to a call about gunfire at the Avery Park Apartments on the 2200 block of North Torrey Pines Drive arrived to find two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, a Las Vegas Metro Police statement reported. One victim was found in a vehicle, while the other was on the ground near that same vehicle.

Both men were taken to the University Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead a short time later.

Witnesses told investigators the victims were both seated inside the vehicle when multiple shots were fired. At least two suspects were seen fleeing the scene before officers arrived.

Detectives did not immediately discuss any known suspects or motive in the killings. The deaths were the 115th and 116th homicides to be investigated by LVMPD detectives in 2016.
