HENDERSON, NV (KXNT) – Authorities in Henderson are investigating the shooting deaths of a couple inside their Henderson home Monday as an apparent murder-suicide, according to detectives.
Officers arrived at the home on the 2800 block of Blythswood Square in Anthem Highlands just around 6 p.m. Sunday after a relative called to ask police to check on the woman’s safety, a Henderson Police statement reported.
When no one answered repeated attempts to contact the couple, officers entered and found the 41-year-old wife dead from a gunshot wound and her 38-year-old husband dead after apparently turning the gun on himself. Their names were not immediately released pending family notifications.
Witnesses told investigators the woman was in the process of moving out and returned to the home Monday to retrieve some items.
The couple’s 9-year-old daughter and the woman’s 14-year-old daughter from a previous relationship were not home at the time of the shootings.
The woman’s death was the seventh homicide in the city of Henderson in 2016.
