LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – A man sitting in a parked car at a Las Vegas park was killed and detectives are investigating his death as a possible accidental shooting, according to authorities.
The shooting happened near Palacio Park on the 900 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard just after 8 p.m. Thursday, a Las Vegas Police statement reported.
Officers found the victim, identified as a man in his late teens or early 20s, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound near the park’s basketball courts.
The victim was taken to the University Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators spoke with the person allegedly responsible for the shooting and detectives believe the shooting was likely accidental. The findings of the investigation will be turned over to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether charges will be filed against the gunman.
The killing is the 113th homicide investigated by Las Vegas Metro police detectives in 2016.
