Hiker Killed in Red Rock Canyon Fall Identified

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have released the name of a hiker who fell to his death at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

The Clark County coroner identified the hiker Friday as 31-year-old Justin William Manering of Las Vegas.

His cause of death is still pending.

Police say Manering and a group of co-workers had been hiking Thursday evening when he fell about 160 feet from a trail.

Manering was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is still undetermined what caused him to fall.

His mother, Pamela Kight, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he moved to Nevada with his girlfriend five years ago.

She says her son, who was a waiter, was a very outdoorsy person who often hiked at Red Rock Canyon.
