LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Las Vegas area has now seen its first human case of the West Nile virus this year.
The Southern Nevada Health District on Tuesday announced that a woman over the age of 50 has been infected by a more serious, neuroinvasive form of West Nile.
The woman who isn’t being identified was been treated and released from the hospital.
County health officials had found mosquitoes with West Nile last month and this marks the first human case in 2016.
There was one person reported infected last year.
