LAS VEGAS (AP) — The son of a Las Vegas city official is accused of committing a string of robberies.
Police say 27-year-old Shane Ross was taken into custody Friday morning after allegedly robbing three businesses at gunpoint.
Witnesses saw the suspect flee on a motorcycle that stopped at a tavern a block away.
Police spotted the bike and entered the business.
Ross was taken into custody without incident.
Investigators believe he has carried out at least eight other robberies in the Las Vegas metro area.
Ross is the son of Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tem Steve Ross.
In a statement, the family says Ross has struggled with addiction and they are urging him to cooperate with police.
He is being held on $60,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court next week.
