LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – A woman’s body found in the aftermath of a Las Vegas house fire Sunday was the victim of foul play and dead before the fire started, according to investigators.
Las Vegas Police homicide detectives determined the body of 54-year-old Carol Lopez of Las Vegas showed signs of blunt force trauma to the head and was deceased before the blaze broke out in the home on the 4100 block of East Boston Avenue early Sunday morning, a Las Vegas Police statement reported.
Firefighters found the body in a bedroom of the home after knocking down the fire and called in homicide investigators. The Clark County Coroner’s Office determined the woman’s death was a homicide, the 106th killing investigated by Las Vegas police in 2016.
So far, authorities have not revealed any further information on possible suspects in Lopez’s murder.
