LAS VEGAS (AP) — A dance competition that the promoter says has featured 4,000 dancers from around the world is set to wrap up this weekend with the World Hip Hop Dance Championships in Las Vegas.
Promoter Laurence Cohen says teams have come from 50 countries including China, Nepal and the Dominican Republic have been competing in Las Vegas since last weekend to try to dethrone champion crews from New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and the U.S.
Cohen says thousands of spectators are expected for the finals Saturday night at the Thomas & Mack arena at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Crews are judged by a panel trained by Hip Hop International, which focuses on positive elements of street culture with a goal of uniting the world of hip hop through dance.
