LAS VEGAS (AP) — Fire officials say guests evacuated one floor of the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas early this morning only to find out it was a false alarm.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that a fire extinguisher was deployed at the casino early Saturday, triggering alarms and spurring an evacuation of the 35th floor.
Officials with the Clark County Fire Department say several firefighters descended on the hotel around 4 a.m. expecting to find smoke or flames.
They say someone had “maliciously” discharged the extinguisher.
The call was canceled 15 minutes later.
Officials did not say whether they planned to investigate the incident further
