LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada Supreme Court justices are considering whether to allow a measure reversing a recent rooftop solar rate hike onto the November ballot.
Justices heard arguments Friday from the No Solar Tax PAC, which is backed by SolarCity. They’re appealing a lower court ruling that found their proposed referendum didn’t qualify and should be pursued in a different format as an initiative petition.
The referendum seeks to remove portions of a Nevada law passed last year that authorized the controversial rate hike.
The Citizens for Solar and Energy Fairness PAC that’s backed largely by NV Energy is opposing the referendum. The group’s lawyer says a description of its effect is misleading to voters.
Justices didn’t immediately issue a ruling on the case.
