LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas man who was critically injured in a collision has succumbed to his injuries.
Las Vegas police say the 19-year-old man died at a hospital Saturday, a day after he was rushed from an accident scene near Charleston Boulevard and Fort Apache Road with life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, the victim’s vehicle was rear-ended by a Mercedes-Benz.
The impact sent the victim’s Kia Rondo off the road and it spun around before coming to a rest.
Police say the driver of the Mercedes-Benz tried to flee on foot but was caught by an off-duty security guard.
The suspect driver failed field sobriety tests.
He is being held at Clark County Detention Center on DUI and felony hit and run.
The incident remains under investigation.
