Woman Found Slain in Las Vegas ID’d as Symphony Viola Player

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities and a friend are identifying a woman found dead in a Las Vegas condominium as a 70-year-old musician and member of the Nevada Chamber Symphony.

The Clark County coroner said Friday that Mary Margaret Trimble was asphyxiated. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Police say Trimble’s body was found Wednesday morning at the ransacked condo near Mojave and Desert Inn roads. She was last seen about 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Police didn’t immediately identify any suspects in the case.

Friend Rebecca Ramsey tells KSNV-TV that Trimble was an accomplished viola player who performed with her husband and son on a Lawrence Welk Christmas Show in 1979.

Trimble was mentioned in a February 2008 Las Vegas Sun report as a member of the symphony and the Las Vegas Philharmonic.
