LAS VEGAS (AP) — A prosecutor says an off-duty Las Vegas police officer had a blood-alcohol percentage 50 percent higher than the legal limit when he crashed his personal SUV several times last weekend on a busy stretch of Interstate 15.
Prosecutor Brian Rutledge said Thursday that Officer Antonio Munoz Jr.’s blood-alcohol percentage was 0.12 percent when he was arrested early Saturday morning after exiting the freeway near the Las Vegas Strip and downtown.
Munoz’s attorney, Joshua Tomsheck, didn’t immediately respond to messages.
Munoz was charged Wednesday with three felony leaving the scene of an accident charges that each carry a mandatory two years in prison if he’s convicted.
Rutledge says Munoz also is expected to face felony drunk-driving charges once prosecutors receive medical reports of people hurt in the crashes.
