GEORGE NOORY IN LAS VEGAS: Get tickets now -- be there June 9!

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno hotel casino is planning to leave NV Energy and acquire its electricity elsewhere.

Peppermill Casinos, Inc., filed its exit application with the Nevada Public Utilities Commission earlier this month. Peppermill Resort Spa Casino says it wants to leave NV Energy’s northern Nevada company, Sierra Pacific, by March 1.

Three Las Vegas hotel casinos and the data storage company Switch have also recently filed applications to leave the utility.

The Peppermill application says it intends to obtain energy from Minnesota-based Cargill Power Markets.

The utilities staff will process the application and determine a fee that the company will be required to pay to exit. The fee is meant to protect the utility’s remaining customers.
