Nevada Senate: Solid Quarter for Masto; Heck Has More Cash

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Republican Rep. Joe Heck has a $1.4 million cash advantage over his Democratic opponent as they move forward in a tough Senate race.

Heck’s campaign reported $4.8 million in cash at the end of June and raised $1.8 million in the three-month quarter.

Democratic former Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto ended the quarter with $3.4 million cash, but had a stronger fundraising period and raised nearly $3 million in three months.

Cortez Masto spokesman Zach Hudson said he’s excited that the campaign has the money it needs to get his candidate’s message out.

Heck spokesman Brian Baluta said Cortez Masto’s campaign has a spending problem.

Candidates for federal offices including House and Senate were required to submit reports on their recent fundraising by Friday.
