Bicyclist Critically Hurt After Car Rear-Ends Bike

LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – A bicyclist was critically injured after investigators say a driver drifted into a bike lane and struck the rider.

The collision happened on Alexander Road west of Forest Knoll Lane just before 10:45 a.m. Friday, according to a Las Vegas Metro Police statement.

Police believe the unidentified male cyclist was traveling westbound on Alexander in the bike lane when the westbound Honda Fit left the traffic lane, entered the bike lane and rear-ended the cyclist.

The bicyclist was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries. His name and condition were not immediately known.

Investigators said the driver of the Honda, 25-year-old Hailey Fenton of Las Vegas, was not impaired and spoke with police. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
