LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – A 20-year-old Las Vegas women faces murder charges after giving birth to a baby girl whose body was found in an apartment bathtub.
Officers arrived at the apartment on the 2800 block of South Maryland Parkway just around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday following reports of a possible newborn left inside the residence, according to a Las Vegas Police statement.
Police located the recently-delivered child inside the apartment and the baby was pronounced dead at the scene. The manner of death was not immediately released.
An investigation by the LVMPD Abuse and Neglect Section indicated Veronica Salazar had concealed her pregnancy, then given birth to the child before requesting medical treatment a few hours later. Salazar was taken to Sunrise Hospital for treatment before being place under arrest for murder.
Salazar remained hospitalized Wednesday and was expected to appear in court once she is released.
