14 People Stuck in SlotZilla Zip Line Elevator

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas fire officials say more than a dozen people waiting to use a zip line became stuck in an elevator.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that 14 people were trapped in an elevator Friday night on their way up to SlotZilla at the Fremont Street Experience.

Firefighters were called at 9 p.m. and assisted SlotZilla maintenance workers in freeing everyone.

Fire spokesman Tim Szymanski says an extended rescue ladder was placed in the middle of Fremont Street and an operator and 13 guests came down safely.

According to Szymanski, the elevator got stuck between the second and third levels due to a mechanical malfunction.

Szymanski says elevator calls are common in Las Vegas and firefighters respond to one at least once a day.
