LAS VEGAS (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police officers shot and killed a man believed to have been a suspect in an earlier shooting they were called to Monday evening near the Stratosphere Tower.
Police Capt. Shawn Anderson said when arriving officers began tending to the victim of a shooting around 10 p.m., bystanders pointed out a man who they said may have been the shooter.
Anderson said a foot pursuit ended in an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and officers in the area of Paradise Road, Las Vegas Boulevard and East St. Louis Boulevard, all of which were closed during the overnight hours.
According to police, the wounded suspect was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The victim in the first shooting was also taken to UMC and was expected to survive.
The two officers involved in the incident were placed on paid administrative leave.
