( Las Vegas, NV ) – Hollywood has come calling on the Las Vegas Strip – again.
Often the scene of dramatic car chases in movies gone by, the rumor mill has it that Matt Damon’s latest in the Bourne film series is the reason why Flamingo Road just east of Las Vegas Blvd was closed Tuesday night.
Production crews placed dozens of huge cardboard boxes on the sidewalk under an elevated entrance/exit on the north side of the Bally’s Hotel/Casino.
Anyone who was there wondering what it was all about eventually got their answer when a car, presumably driven by a stunt person sped through a doorway, off the ramp and into the pile of boxes.
While Metro Police would only say that the street closure was for a “film production,” the buzz literally on the street is that the scene will be part of the next installment in the popular Bourne movies.
When Damon spoke at this past weekend’s Golden Globe Awards, he said he was on his way to Las Vegas to shoot scenes for his next film.
As the folks on TV say, “Stay tuned!”
From Sean Connery in a James Bond movie racing through the streets of downtown Las Vegas, to a fake plane crash into what was the Sands Hotel for the Nicolas Cage movie “Con Air” to Flying Elvi landing in the intersection of Flamingo and The Strip in Cage’s “Honeymoon In Vegas” the Entertainment Capital Of The World has long lived up to is name on the silver screen.
