(Las Vegas, NV) – Great news for you discount airfare shoppers: Southwest Airlines has announced today that it is extending its huge 72-hour sale to Friday.
The response to Southwest Airlines’ 72-hour sale was so great, the Southwest website and app both crashed, and as of Thursday morning, both were still unable to provide travelers with any discount airfares. So the company has been forced to extend the end of the sale from Thursday to Friday.
“We recently launched a fare sale that created an extraordinarily high volume of customer demand and impacted Southwest.com functionality,” Southwest spokeswoman Brandy King says in a statement to “Today in the Sky.” “We apologize to customers for any inconvenience and impact to travel plans. Southwest Teams have worked nonstop to correct website functionality and we continue to focus on fully restoring the site. We have extended the fare sale from end of day Thursday to end of day Friday, allowing customers extra time to book.”
The annual sale from Southwest is offering $49 flights from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, and discount airfares of $99, $129 and $149 to other further destinations to and from McCarran International Airport.
